HHIF provides grants to patients at Valley Children's Hospital that can range from wish list items to financial needs. Our grant application is available through the social worker assigned to the family during treatment. Grants can range up to $1,000 and are approved on an individual basis.
Patients may request wish list items that will provide relief, entertainment, happiness and connection while undergoing treatment. Many children feel isolated and must endure hours of chemotherapy and/or radiation. These have included Laptops, iPads, tablets, gaming systems like Xbox or PlayStation, TVs, headphones, clothing shopping sprees, toys, Princess jeeps, home appliances & beds to name a few. Financial aid has included travel expenses and basic necessities like shelter, clothing and medical needs.
HHIF was thrilled to make a life long dream come true for a very special 13 year old boy named Antonio. He has had a long battle with cancer beginning with a diagnosis of leukemia at age one. He has battled bravely even receiving a bone marrow transplant. Although he did well for many years he dealt with the many harsh effects of treatment and is now dealing with a brain tumor. He recently had to endure surgery and more treatment. It was his dream to stay in a hotel (which he never had) and visit Universal Studios! As soon as his doctor gave him the clearance Antonio and three of his family members had a great weekend at the Hilton Hotel Universal!
Recently HHIF has initiated two annual scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each.
